This is the image for the news article titled Weakley County Spelling Bee Scheduled for December 5 On December 5, some of the county’s best spellers will gather to compete for the opportunity to advance to the Tennessee Titans Regional Spelling Bee in Nashville. The annual Weakley County Schools’ Spelling Bee will begin at 9 a.m. at the Board of Education Conference Room, 8319 Hwy. 22, Suite A, Dresden. The public is invited.

Twelve contestants will vie for the top spots. The winner and runner up will then take an online test for spelling and vocabulary and students with the top 50 test scores from across the state will meet at the Nissan Stadium-West Club in Nashville on March 7.

The spelling champions who have already claimed the top spots for their schools and who will be competing on December 5 are: Dresden Middle School winner Jacoby Sutton and runner up Summer Di Pietro; Gleason School winner Luke Lawrence and runner-up Trey Mayo; Greenfield School winner Lexia Sawyers and runner up Brenley Little; Martin Elementary School winner Kurtis Lovelace and runner up Allyssa Williams; Martin Middle School winner Kyleigh Fishel and runner up Maddox Finney; Sharon School winner Lilly Boyd and runner up Evan Street.

The Weakley County top speller and runner up will receive a monetary award to go along with the medallion and certificates that all the countywide participants will receive.

The statewide competition is sponsored by the Tennessee Titans.
